Archaeological Programme
We are pleased to announce that the HRGS Field Unit held their planning meeting in early January to scope out the digging season. This year we are delighted to be digging at Boyce’s Hill at Newington again. This is a Roman site that has many features of interest and has already provided a mass of finds to process.
Dates For your diary: We will be on site on Sundays and Mondays – 10am – 4pm (digging subject to weather conditions)
For this year’s dates please visit our Archaeology Project page, or our Events Calendar above.
If you are interested in participating, we have plenty of things for all kinds of skills and interests. Cleaning, drawing, photographing, cataloguing, recording, researching, and on site we have dowsing, plan drawing, site surveying, metal detecting, photography as well as traditional excavations. Everyone including seasoned excavators will receive a site review and a health and safety briefing before commencing; with those new to excavation receiving training before starting to work in a trench under guidance.
Other dig dates for maybe planned to be held if weather conditions change our programme. Please Contact Us to find out more.
