The Second World War claimed over a 1,000 lives of local people.
75 years after its end we are connected in one way or another, through our parents, grandparents and other family members.
HRGS are researching these men, women and children and would like your help.
To investigate all those commemorated on the Swale memorials and with links to the area, in order to recognise the ultimate sacrifice made by the men and women from Sittingbourne and its surrounding parishes during the Second World War 1939-1946.
The 44 parishes in scope are:
Bapchild, Bobbing, Borden, Boughton under Blean, Bredgar, Davington, Doddington, Dunkirk, Eastchurch, Eastling, Faversham, Frinsted, Goodnestone, Graveney, Hartlip, Hernhill, Iwade, Leaveland, Leysdown, Lower Halstow, Luddenham, Lynsted, Milstead, Milton Regis, Minster, Murston, Newington, Newnham, Norton, Oare, Ospringe, Otterden, Queenborough, Rodmersham, Selling, Sheerness, Sheldwich, Sittingbourne, Stalisfield, Teynham, Throwley, Tonge, Tunstall, and Upchurch.
