Will of Thomas Allen of Murston, 17th Dec 1732

In the name of God Amen
I Thomas Allen of Murston in the County of Kent Clerk being sick
and weak in body but of sound mind memory and understanding God
be praised do make my last will and testament in manner following
Viz imprimis I give and bequeath unto my worthy friend Sir Roger
Meredith of Leeds in the County of Kent Baronet and Sir Walter
Hooper of London Gentleman their heirs Executors and Advi‾ors  the sum
of three hundred pounds in trust that they the said Sir Roger Meredith
and Walter Hooper or the survivor of them or the heirs Extors or Adm‾ors
of such survivor do and shall with all convenient speed after my decease
build or cause to be built a vicarage house upon the glebe of the parish
of Kingsdown near Doddington in the said County and the same s???? 
and the increase thereof be applied for that purpose from I give and
bequeath unto Thomas Allen son of Thomas Allen of Hernhill In the
County of Essex Surgeon all that my annuity or yearly rent Charge of
ten pounds issuing and going out of an Estate in Borden in the County
of Kent bought by the widow Hendridge of my Grandfather when the
said Annuity was reserved to my said Grandfather now in the occupation of
Vallence To hold the said Annuity unto the said Thomas Allen
for and during the term of ten years commencing from the time
of his going to University Colledge of Oxford to reside there as a student
but in case the said Thomas Allen shall not go to the said College as
aforesaid or in case he shall go to colledge from and after the said term of
ten years or other sooner determination of that Estate I give the same
annuity unto such one of my relations of the name of Allen Hoopers
Giles or Hawker? as shall from time to time go as a student to the said
College for and during such term of ten years commencing as aforesaid
and from and after the extinction of the said families then I give the same
unto my own right heirs forever Item I give and bequeath unto my
Kinswoman Ffinch Hooper of Stockbury in the said County of Kent
widow all that my moiety or half part of all that messuage ffarme
and lands lying and being in the parish of Tonge in the said County
together with their rights members and appurtences to hold the said
moiety lands hereditaments and premises unto the said Finch Hooper
for and during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease
Then I give and devise the same unto the said Walter Hooper his heires
and assignes for ever Item I give and devise unto Mr Thomas Allen of
Hernhill in the County of Essex all those twenty acres of arrable and
woodlands lying and being in the parish of Borden aforesaid to hold
the same unto the said Thomas Allen his heirs and assignes for ever
Item I give and bequeath unto Jane the wife of William ?????er of
Stockbury aforesaid esqr. And Catherine Hooper of Stockbury aforesaid
the sum of  one hundred and fifty pounds apeice to be raised and paid
out of my personal estate as soon as my b?.... after my decease in case
there shall be sufficient for that purpose after the said three hundred
pounds herein before given for and towards a vicarage house at Kings
down but in case my personal estate shall not be sufficient for that
purpose then my will is that the several sums of one hundred and
ffifty and one hundred and ffifty pounds be raised and paid out of my
moiety of the ffarm and lands at Tonge after the determination of
the estate of the said Jane Hooper therein Item I give and bequeath
unto John Allen of Sittingbourn in the said County Carpenter ffive
pounds to be paid as soon as can be after my decease and I do hereby
make and ordain the said Sir Roger Meredith and Walter Hooper
Executors of this my last will and testament and in consideration of
the trouble they may be put to about the performance of this my will I
give them the sum of one hundred_ and Lastly hereby revoking all
former will and testament in witness whereof I the said Thomas Allen
have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of December
Anno Domini 1732 --- Tho: Allen --- signed sealed published and
declared by the said testator as and for his will and testament in the
presence of us who have hereunto set our names in his presence Wm

Whereas I have in my will above given an estate for
and towards the maintaining and educating a scholar at university
college since the writing whereof to prevent any disputes hereafter
my will and desire is that Sir Roger Meredith and Walter Hooper
and their respective heirs shall have an alternate nomination of
such scholar of the names aforesaid after the estate of said Thomas
Allen shall be determined and in case of either of their omissions or
defaults therein then my will is that the Master of University
College aforesaid for the time being shall have such nomination of
such scholar of the names aforesaid I also add this a codicil and desire
it may part of my will  Tho Allen --- signed sealed and delivered in
